Join us as Charles Sturt University launches a new regional hub for the Collaborative, bringing an Asia Pacific and Australian lens to global learning. This exciting partnership will spark fresh collaboration, innovation, and community-based action to tackle shared global challenges.

The Hub’s primary audience is people in community-based organizations partnering with university faculty, staff, and students from the Asia Pacific region. All are welcome with an interest in positioning Collaborative activities in Asia Pacific contexts.

This session explores Fair Trade Learning (FTL) as a guiding framework for international education and community development, with a strong emphasis on community engagement. Drawing on critical literature and grassroots insights, the session explores how FTL challenges extractive models of global learning by centring reciprocity, transparency, equity, and community voice. We’ll examine how FTL principles are applied in practice, discuss tensions that arise, and share case examples where this model has reshaped institutional partnerships and student experiences abroad.
