Lessons from Nurturing the Global and Intercultural Learning Ecosystem on Our Campus

Register here

In 2019 Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) added global and intercultural competency (GIC) as one of nine institutional learning outcomes. With a grant from the Davis Foundation, a group of faculty and staff at WPI has undertaken a multi-year project to map its ecosystem of GIC learning. One year in, what are the opportunities for strengthening GIC learning at WPI? A survey to its faculty revealed the importance of familiarity with concepts related to GIC, the perceived importance of GIC learning, and the relationship between GIC learning and experiential learning. How/Do these transfer to other university settings? Along the way presenters will share: areas that they identified for deeper exploration, growth, and improvement; the importance of taking stock of what already exists in the system before designing anything new; and being intentional to get educators talking to one another about their teaching.

Presented by: Sarah Stanlick, Assoc Dean of the Global School, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), and Collaborative co-director.
